The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting veterans who were wounded, injured, or became ill during or after their military service. Since 2003, WWP has provided a wide range of programs and services—all free of charge—specifically designed to support veterans and their families on their journey to recovery and a better quality of life.

Supporting Veterans’ Well-Being

Wounded Warrior Project’s main goal is to help veterans thrive after service by addressing their total well-being. This includes support for mental health, physical health, career development, and family connections. WWP understands that many veterans face challenges that aren’t always visible, such as PTSD, traumatic brain injuries, or adjusting to life after the military. Their programs offer real help in these areas, so warriors can heal, grow, and move forward.

WWP serves more than 270,000 veterans, families, and caregivers with tailored programs. Every month, thousands of new veterans and their loved ones join the WWP family to take advantage of these resources. With nearly $3 billion invested in services, WWP has become a dependable lifeline for wounded veterans who need support.

Mental Health and Healing Programs

One of the most important areas WWP focuses on is mental health. They provide programs that help veterans cope with invisible wounds like PTSD and trauma. The Warrior Care Network, for example, gives veterans access to top-quality care through partnerships with leading medical centers. This program offers intensive outpatient mental health treatment that has helped thousands of veterans start to heal and regain control of their lives.

WWP also offers Project Odyssey, a 12-week program that uses adventure and group activities to help veterans build resiliency skills, manage stress, and support each other. Another vital service is WWP Talk, a free, confidential phone support line where veterans and their families can get emotional support from trained professionals.

Helping Veterans Build New Careers

Transitioning from military life to civilian life can be tough. That’s why WWP offers career coaching and job placement support through its Warriors to Work program. Veterans can get help building resumes, preparing for interviews, and finding jobs that fit their skills and interests. Last year, over 1,200 veterans and family members found new employment with WWP’s help.

This makes a big difference for veterans as they create a new chapter in their lives, building pride and independence through meaningful work.

Strengthening Families and Caregivers

Wounded Warrior Project knows that healing isn’t just about the individual veteran—it’s about supporting their whole family. WWP programs help families reconnect and deal with the changes that come with injury or illness. They organize family-focused events, provide resources to navigate veterans’ benefits, and offer caregivers the support they need to face their own challenges.

Families play a crucial role in a wounded warrior’s recovery, and WWP makes sure they are not forgotten.

Events and Community Connections

Social connection is an important part of healing, and WWP hosts thousands of events each year to help veterans find community and support among peers. These events give warriors a chance to meet others who understand their experiences, form friendships, and have fun. Whether it’s an outdoor adventure, a sports competition, or a local gathering, WWP builds bridges that keep veterans connected.
